The seven-storey, 70,000 sq ft scheme in Southwark was recently named as the world’s smartest building and was the first UK building to achieve the Smart Building Certification ‘Platinum’ certificate.
Southworks has also achieved a WiredScore ‘Gold’ rating for its digital connectivity by meeting criteria in four key categories: infrastructure, wireless, power and connectivity.
The building, designed by SPPARC, is set to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating stemming from its building services systems and integrated smart technologies.
The office building is also equipped with the global tenant engagement platform OfficeApp’s smartphone app, which provides the building’s tenants with seamless access to a variety of services and amenities.
Tomáš Jurdák, head of real estate at MiddleCap, said: “We’re extremely proud that Southworks, our first scheme in the UK, will set the bar for future offices in London. Thanks to a great combination of quality design [and] natural elements combined with [the] latest technology, the scheme showcases an exemplary workspace that serves employees, the environment and the city.
“This is just the beginning of MiddleCap’s journey in the UK and we’re looking forward to developing a pipeline of exemplary offices in London.”
Trevor Morriss, principal at SPPARC, said: “An area with a strong industrial legacy and a history to be inspired by, Southworks balances matters of scale, material quality and functionality to create a building which has its own distinct architectural style while sensitively cohabiting with its surrounding heritage context.”
