Hybrid Work is the Future

And it provides enormous opportunity for your business. What can you to do prepare?

Hybrid Work is the Future

It is now clear to businesses that the future lies in hybrid work – with employees dividing their time between home and the office. With this fundamental change to the workplace experience comes two things:

  • A shift in the power dynamic between employee and employer
  • Massive opportunity for large organizations or corporates

For employees, working from home is safe, comfortable, and convenient. This means it is up to businesses to create workspaces that serve as “go-to” destinations – as well as strategies for using them.

What is a hybrid work strategy?

Post-COVID, many businesses are currently operating on hybrid “shift” schedules, in which employees are either assigned or reserve spots in the office, allowing for a more controlled, safer work environment. Using a shift schedule as a hybrid work strategy, however, is framing hybrid work as the present, adhering to governmental or organization-wide rules and attempting to continue with business as usual.

But following guidelines is not the same as seizing the the opportunities of hybrid work – because doing so doesn’t keep the future in mind.

And hybrid work is the future.

Maintaining an office schedule – by enabling employees to book meeting rooms and desks, for instance– certainly plays a meaningful role in a hybrid work strategy. But the strategies that prove successful in the long-term will be fuller, richer, and deeper.

These plans will be built upon digital platforms that serve to:

  • Attract and engage employees and tenants
  • Drive productivity
  • Increase cost-efficiency
  • Maximize efficiency
  • Drive ESG and sustainability efforts

Challenges, concerns, and ‘activity-based’ working

Organizations are faced with similar challenges when developing hybrid work strategies. Their key areas of concern – and the reasoning behind those concerns – are, however, slightly different, depending on type or size of business, for example.

Regardless, those with well-developed hybrid work strategies know that the office has enormous value as a place to collaborate and co-create, with usage centered around meetings and group – or “activity-based” work.

With this understanding – and the right platform – these organizations can leverage digital tools, features, and functionalities that enable data-backed decisions regarding building usage. This will result in cost savings, increased ROI – and happy, engaged employees.

The way forward

Office App has created two brochures – one each for landlords and corporates – that dive into the details of creating, developing, and maintaining a hybrid work strategy.

These brochures are tailored to landlords’ and corporates’ specific needs and pain points. They also provide potential solutions for challenges that will arise in the creation of a hybrid work strategy – as well as a solid foundation from which to take a first step toward future-proofing buildings and offices.
